Brockton, Massachusetts Special School Committee Meeting June 28, 2022
The Special School Committee Meeting of the Brockton School Committee was held this evening, at six o’clock.
These minutes contain a summary of the meeting and list items that were under discussion.
Mayor Sullivan called the meeting to order at 6:09 p.m., followed by a salute to the flag.
Present: Ms. Asack, Vice-Chair, Mr. Homer, Ms. Rivas-Mendes,
Mr. Rodrigues, Ms. Sullivan, Mr. Sullivan
Absent: Mayor Sullivan, Chair, Ms. Ehlers
Also Present: Superintendent Thomas, Attorney Sarah Spatafore
Ms. Asack – Vice-Chair, took a roll call to establish a quorum.

Agenda #2 – Executive Session
Ms. Asack, Vice-Chair read the following statement for the record.
“School Committee will go into Executive Session: Pursuant to M.G.L. c. 30A, § 21(a)(3) To conduct strategy with respect to collective bargaining or litigation if an open meeting may have a detrimental effect of the bargaining or litigating position of the public body and the chair so declarer, Brockton Education Association (BEA), IBAA-TEA, School Police/Teamsters. The committee will return to open session following this Executive Session.”
Ms. Asack asked for a motion to go into Executive Session.
Ms. Sullivan motioned to enter Executive Session. Seconded by Mr. Homer.
Voted: to approve the motion, unanimously.
School Committee Members went into Executive Session at 6:11 p.m.
School Committee Members returned from Executive Session at 7:30 p.m.

Mr. Sullivan motioned to return from Executive Session, seconded by Ms. Rivas Mendes.

Agenda #3 – Discussion and Potential Vote(s) from Executive Session
Ms. Asack entertained a motion.
Ms. Rivas Mendes motioned to approve the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Brockton Education Association (BEA) and the Brockton School Committee for a successor bargaining agreement, seconded by Mr. Sullivan.
