BROCKTON — Brockton High School and Brockton Public Schools’ Champions College Connect (C³) Early College Program have earned two Early College Program designations from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Awarded in partnership with Bridgewater State University and Massasoit Community College, Early College designations underscore Brockton Public Schools’ districtwide commitment to providing equitable access to opportunities for students.
“These Early College designations represent a powerful investment in our students’ futures by providing them with invaluable opportunities to supercharge their high school experiences and begin preparing for life beyond high school,” Superintendent Priya Tahiliani said. “Access to free, credit-bearing college coursework and real-world learning experiences help prepare students for college and career success, and we’re grateful to our partners at Bridgewater State and Massasoit for their commitment to Brockton’s students.”
Through the C³ Early College Program, Brockton High School students earn free college credits while still in high school and gain valuable exposure to the expectations and culture of higher education. For the 2024–2025 school year:
- 350 BHS students, including 199 graduating seniors, were enrolled in college courses
- 14 college-level courses offered
- 485 total course enrollments
- 100 students took more than one college course
- 1,455 college credits earned by BHS students
“We are thrilled to see so many of our students seizing this opportunity,” said Brockton High School Principal Kevin McCaskill. “These designations validate the hard work of our students, educators, and higher education partners. Most importantly, they ensure that more of our young people leave high school not only with a diploma but with college credits, confidence, and a clear sense of their potential.”
Expanding Opportunity Across Brockton
The Early College Program extends beyond Brockton High School to reach students at the PROMISE College and Career Academy and the Brockton Therapeutic Day School. Across all three schools during the 24-25 school year, the program served more than 450 students, with a combined 723 college course enrollments.
Promise College and Career Academy:
- 80 students enrolled
- 11 college courses offered
- 211 total course enrollments
Brockton Therapeutic Day School:
- 21 students enrolled
- 3 college courses offered
- 27 total course enrollments
Courses are delivered in partnership with UMass Dartmouth, Massasoit Community College, and Bridgewater State University, as well as through a direct partnership between PROMISE and Quincy College. Early college course offerings include general psychology, criminal justice, leadership, speech, human nutrition, and critical writing.
The Massasoit Community College partnership is a liberal arts pathway offering between 12-63 credits, the high-end of which would qualify students for an associates degree and put them well along the path toward a bachelors degree. The partnership with Bridgewater State University includes pathways in humanities, social sciences, education and criminal justice. The UMass Dartmouth partnership offers STEM, business and liberal arts pathways.
