BROCKTON- The Brockton Public Schools announce the launch of two new fiscal tracking tools available to the general public, as well as the publication of the district’s response to the findings of the state Office of the Inspector General regarding the district’s Fiscal Year 2023 budget deficit.
Brockton Public Schools’ Open Checkbook is a live, interactive tool that allows users to explore real-time expenditures by the district, including invoice payments and payroll costs. It comes in addition to the district’s Grants Dashboard, which is a second interactive tool meant to provide further transparency.
“These tools reflect a commitment to transparency as we continue to build on the strong progress we have made in repairing our district’s financial health,” Superintendent Priya Tahiliani said.
The Open Checkbook is accessible on the BPS website. It provides a running tally of expended funds that can be sorted by invoice description, cost, vendor and department. The Open Checkbook also lists current payroll expenses. The tool was developed in collaboration between BPS Financial Services Department and Open Architects, a third-party vendor the district has retained since the district’s Fiscal Year 2023 budget deficit.
The BPS Grants Dashboard is another tool designed to provide insight into grant revenues and programs. The Grants Dashboard is available on the BPS Financial Services Department website. As of Feb. 3, 2026, BPS has received over $26 million in grant funding for FY 26, which began on July 1, 2025.
Both tools are part of a comprehensive redesign of the Financial Services Department’s online presence, which seeks to provide stakeholders with deeper access to the district’s financial affairs.
BPS has also made available the materials it provided to the Office of the Inspector General in response to its findings related to the FY23 budget. The response includes several supporting documents that provide further insight into both the district’s current financial well-being, as well as the work done to correct its budgeting and financial management practices.
