An Update from the Brockton Public Schools Regarding Allegations of Inappropriate Conduct Toward a Student

BROCKTON - The Brockton School Committee convened a special meeting yesterday evening as part of its oversight responsibilities and to ensure that all appropriate protocols and procedures are followed in response to a matter involving the safety and wellbeing of a Brockton Public Schools student.

The safety, dignity, and wellbeing of every student remain the district’s highest priorities. The district has comprehensive policies and procedures in place that guide its work to ensure a thorough and impartial response to allegations of inappropriate conduct by any adult toward a student. 

Immediately upon being notified of an allegation, the district retained an independent third-party investigator to review the facts and circumstances surrounding the allegation.

In situations with similar fact allegations, the district will often impose a safety plan that may include directives to limit or eliminate contact between the parties for the duration of the investigation.

The district is cooperating fully with ongoing investigative processes.
