A Message from Superintendent Thomas Ahead of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

Dear BPS Families,

If you drive by Brockton High School this weekend, you'll see the words, "The dream lives, the legacy continues," on the electronic sign at the Forest Avenue entrance. I think these words, which are inscribed near the eternal flame at the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historical Park in Atlanta, perfectly encapsulate the true intention of Martin Luther King Day.

MLK Day is not just a commemoration- it's a call to action. It's a day that challenges each of us to consider what we can do to effect change and build a better world for the next generation. "The dream lives," reminds us that the fight for equality doesn't end, it simply evolves.

I am proud to lead a district full of people who are doing their part to uproot inequities in our educational system. While there are many things that need to be done to ensure everyone has the opportunity to live a happy, fulfilling life, this is the part we as educators can play in building a better country that works for everyone.

Thank you for engaging in this critical work with us. Please enjoy the weekend and please stay safe.

Superintendent Thomas
