The Brockton High School Music Department is proud to announce that 29 student musicians have been accepted into the 2022 Southeastern Massachusetts Senior District Music Festival. Twenty-three students from the chorus and six students from the band were chosen to be a part of this annual festival, which will be held in January.
The students are: Beatriz Almeida, Craig Andrade, Anna Annese, Kylie Brown, Khalil Callender, Nicholas Canal, Deborah Chagas, Junie Charles, Gabriela Clark, Hillary Clark, Nilton DaRosa, Steven Dias Tavares, Paedyn El Chami, Kyle Gildner, Noah Goguette, Sharncia Jonassaint, Zoe Lopez, Analiese Maldonado-Mattison, Natalie Miett, Andrea Moreno, Dounia Namir, Esther Onyeka, Maizel Samba, David St. Aude, Alessandra Sueiro, Norah Thomas, Herberlyn Tropnas, Amanda Viveiros and Hannah Zuckerman.
Of these students, 13 singers and five instrumentalists scored high enough to receive a recommendation to audition for the Massachusetts All-State Music Festival, which will take place in March at Symphony Hall in Boston. The students who received All-State recommendations are Craig Andrade, Anna Annese, Khalil Callender, Nicholas Canal, Deborah Chagas, Nilton DaRosa, Steven Dias Tavares, Kyle Gildner, Noah Goguette, Andrea Moreno, Dounia Namir, Esther Onyeka, Maizel Samba, David St. Aude, Norah Thomas, Herberlyn Tropnas and Hannah Zuckerman.
Hundreds of students in grades 9-12 from over 60 schools in southeastern Massachusetts auditioned in hopes of being selected. The district festival will feature student musicians in five ensembles: mixed chorus, treble chorus, concert band, orchestra, and jazz band. Students will rehearse under the direction of well-respected guest conductors and perform in a culminating concert open to the public.
