BPS Update on State's New Reopening Requirements for High Schools

Hello BHS Families,

As you may have heard, the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) is requiring all high schools to return to full, in-person learning on May 17. Due to capacity limitations, we will request a waiver that would enable us to keep BHS in a hybrid learning format through the end of the school year. As part of the waiver process, we are required to survey parents/guardians to assess your preferences. Please click here to complete the brief survey.

This is not an easy decision for us. We want all of our students back in school full time. However, we have concluded that the size of our high school student population is not conducive to maintaining a minimum of three feet of space in our classrooms and common areas as recommended by the CDC.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding during what we know has been a difficult year for you and your children. We will provide an update once DESE has reviewed our waiver request.

Sincerely,

Superintendent Thomas
