Masks Required Regardless of Vaccination Status Until Further Notice

Masks Required Regardless of Vaccination Status Until Further Notice

Dear BPS Families,

Today, Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) Commissioner Jeff Riley announced that masks would be required in all K-12 public schools this fall. As a result, until further notice all Brockton Public Schools students, employees and visitors must wear masks regardless of vaccination status when on school buses and inside our school buildings.

Please be prepared to send your children to school each day with masks that securely cover their mouths and noses. This section of the CDC website provides a helpful overview of which masks will provide the best level of protection. Masks will be available at our schools for our new students and any other BPS student who needs one.

We will provide opportunities throughout the day for frequent mask breaks and handwashing.

I know this announcement will be disappointing to some, but please understand that masks are one of the most effective tools we can use as we try to keep COVID-19 out of our schools.

As a reminder, please keep your children home from school if they exhibit any symptoms of COVID-19.

Thank you for doing your part to keep our community safe.

Sincerely,

Superintendent Thomas
