Brockton High School is a large, comprehensive public institution, grades 9-12, with an enrollment of over 4,300 students. The student population is ethnically, racially, culturally and linguistically diverse, with 30 different languages represented. Programs available to meet the needs of our diverse student population include: English as a Second Language; Transitional Bilingual Education in Haitian, Cape Verdean, and Spanish; Occupational Education and Technology; School to Work; Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC); Bank Training and Finance Program; Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA); Project Grads for teen parents; and nationally recognized programs in Drama, Art, and Music. It is the only high school in the Commonwealth to have its own building dedicated exclusively to the Fine and Applied Arts.
Community
Brockton is a large urban center located approximately 30 miles south of Boston, with convenient access to the metro area via the Commuter Rail Line. The city’s population is approximately 94,000 with a median income of $51,000. While the major industry lies in the area of health services, the city is home to a number of small to medium sized businesses. The City of Brockton employs over 3,000 municipal workers. The school district includes one Pre-K center with morning and afternoon sessions, twelve elementary, six middle, two traditional and four alternative high schools.

Time & Learning: Brockton High School has met the Time and Learning Requirements of the state by expanding class periods to 66-minute blocks. A semester course that meets daily fully complies with both the instructional time required by the state and the number of credits required by the Carnegie Unit System.

Class Rank
Class rank is computed at the end of each year and at the end of each term for seniors, major subjects only on a weighted scale of 4.0.
In Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate courses, the number of quality points are raised by 5.
Grade Point Average
Grade Point Average - class rank is calculated for a student’s applicable accumulated final mark(s) and is assigned quality points. A Class Rank number from #1 through the total number of students in a particular grade is assigned with the student having a Grade Point Average closest to 5.3 being the #1 position in each grade. Brockton High School has a weighted Grade Point Average using the Quality Point Factors as shown below.
