A Letter Regarding Students Returning the Week of March 9

Dear BPS Families,

We look forward to welcoming back students in grades 1-5, 7, 8 and 10 this upcoming week. Below, you will find a chart that outlines our return dates by grade level. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s principal.

Here are a few important reminders:

-          Each student must bring their BPS laptop and charger to school. If your child is using a personal device at home, you should contact their principal to request a BPS laptop. Personal devices will not work on the district’s WIFI. This checklist will help you prepare your child’s backpack (click for French, Portuguese or Spanish).

-          If your child is identified as a close contact of an individual diagnosed with COVID-19 or if they are showing ANY symptoms of COVID-19 please keep them home. Further instructions are available here (click for French, Portuguese or Spanish). Symptoms of COVID-19 include a fever of 100.4° F or above, cough, chills or shaking chills, difficulty breathing or shortness of breath, sore throat, muscle aches or body aches, sudden loss of sense of smell or taste, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea, nasal congestion or runny nose (not due to other known causes, such as allergies), headaches when in combination with other symptoms, and fatigue when in combination with other symptoms.

-          Students must wear masks at all times on our school buses, on school grounds and in school buildings. They will be given time for mask breaks by their teachers.

-          Breakfast will not be served in school this year. You may pick up breakfast the day before at one of our grab-and-go locations and your child will be given a breakfast and a lunch to take home with them at the end of the day. Please ensure your child eats breakfast before they come to school.

-          BPS students and staff are required to adhere to the state’s travel order. Please carefully review the travel order before making any travel plans.

We’ve compiled a detailed list of frequently asked questions that is available here. If you have any questions that aren’t answered in this document, please email reopening@bpsma.org.

Thank you,

Superintendent Thomas
