EDI News

During a March 24, 2021 public forum hosted by the Restoration Community Action Ministry, Superintendent Michael Thomas agreed to the following:

1) The school district will make bias training, especially interpersonal bias trainings, mandatory for all BPS staff within the next two to three years.

2) The school district will provide racial and ethnic data specifically concerning BPS administrative staff and teachers on the BPS website.

3) The school district will work with all partnering community groups under the shared vision of uniting around racial justice in our schools. The group will work together to build out that vision within three to six months.

4) The school district will create SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-based) Goals around the aforementioned commitments, as well as SMART goals regarding student discipline. An action plan and timeline will be made publicly and easily accessible on the BPS website.
