Delayed School Openings
The Brockton Public Schools reserves the right to delay the opening of school to deal with unusual conditions that may exist on a particular school morning. The district may opt to delay school by one or two hours. Delays would affect only the opening of school with dismissals taking place at regularly scheduled times. All Smart Start Extended Day morning programs will open at 8:00 AM instead of 7:00 AM in the event of a delayed school opening of any length.
Afternoon sessions will be held as scheduled. When delays are announced, the opening of school will occur one or two hours later than normal according to the following schedule (dismissal time will not be affected):

School transportation pickups will occur one or two hours later than normal. School lunches will be served at their regular times.
The same media that make school cancellation announcements will announce the delay.
Parents are not to send or drop off their children early on days when a delayed opening has been announced.
In the event that schools must close early due to inclement weather, all afternoon and evening activities and programs will be canceled.
