INPUT CONCERNING POLICY MATTERS - KEB-R, 1

Consistent with the terms of G.L., Chapter 71, Section 37, the Brockton School Committee possesses the statutory power to establish educational goals and policies for the Brockton Public Schools. The following process will be followed when individuals desire to suggest either changes to, or the establishment of, a School Committee policy.

  1. Individuals who desire to suggest either changes to, or the establishment of, a School Committee policy may submit that input to any member of the Committee or to the Superintendent.
  2. If the recipient of the suggestion feels that the matter is something that warrants further consideration as a policy matter, he or she may convey the suggestion to the Vice Chairperson of the School Committee. The Vice Chairperson, after consulting with the Superintendent, will then determine whether the matter should be submitted to the School Committee's Policy Subcommittee for further consideration or may determine that the matter be referred to the Superintendent for administrative attention.
  3. Consistent with the terms of G.L. Chapter 71, Section 37, the School Committee also possesses the statutory power to hire and evaluate the Superintendent. Individuals who desire to give input relative to the performance of the Superintendent may submit that input to any member of the Committee. If the Committee member feels that the input merits further consideration, he or she may convey the input to the full Committee.
