School Committee Policy

SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETINGS - BE

The School Committee will transact all business at official meetings of the Committee. These may be either regular or special meetings, defined as follows:

  1. Regular meeting: the usual official legal action meeting, held regularly
  2. Special meeting: an official legal action meeting called between scheduled regular meetings to consider specific topics.

Every meeting of the School Committee, regular or special, will be open to the public unless an executive session is held in accordance with state law.

The first meeting of the School Committee in September will be on the evening of the first day of school. Thereafter they shall hold two regular meetings per month on the first and third Tuesday. If such dates fall upon a holiday, the meeting shall be rescheduled as determined by the School Committee.

No regular School Committee meetings will be scheduled during the school vacation weeks in February and April. During July and August one meeting will be scheduled.

The Chair or the Vice-Chair of the School Committee shall have power to call any special committee into meeting at any time they deem such is essential. The Secretary will call a special meeting upon the request of five members.
