The safety of our staff and students and their ability to travel to and from school on our city’s streets and walkways is always our top priority. When inclement weather is predicted, our team at the Brockton Public Schools closely monitors the forecast in partnership with the city and our transportation providers to determine if we must amend the school day. We consider many different factors, including timing of the storm, the amount of snowfall and the risk for downed trees and power outages.
If we must delay or cancel school, the district will notify the BPS community via each of the following platforms:
- The district’s phone and text message systems.
- The district’s website, bpsma.org.
- The district’s Facebook and Twitter accounts.
- All of the local broadcast TV channels.
If conditions deteriorate during the school day, we may elect to dismiss school early in order to keep our students and staff off the roads during the peak of the storm. Weather-related early dismissal announcements are made via direct phone calls and text messages and are posted on bpsma.org.
Please notify your child's school immediately if you change your phone number so that any notifications go to your new number.
