Welcome Back 2024
Checklist for a Successful Start to the School Year
☑ Talk to your child about pedestrian safety if they are walking to school or if they are waiting at a bus stop. Explain to them the importance of crossing busy roads at crosswalks and remind them to wait until cars on both sides of the road come to a complete stop before crossing.
☑ Pick up your student's laptop before the school year begins. Brockton High School will offer laptop pickup from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on weekdays from August 21-30. Brockton Virtual Learning Academy (BVLA) will offer laptop pickup from 12-6 p.m. on August 29 OR from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on August 30.
☑ Save important dates, including Open Houses, orientations, school-family conferences, early dismissal days and vacation days, in your phone’s calendar or on an electronic calendar. You may also subscribe to our calendar on bpsma.org to automatically import dates to your calendar.
☑ Subscribe to text messages by texting “YES” to 675-87. This is the fastest way to receive notifications from the district.
☑ If your child takes a bus, check the BPS transportation page to find this year's bus routes by clicking here. Check your student's Infinite Campus Backpack by clicking here for their 24-25 bus assignment and bus stop. For BHS & Champion Families: Bus routes are available at bpsma.org/departments/transportation or by calling 508-580-7004. Click here for important information about private transportation
☑ Complete your child’s handbook forms so we have the most accurate and up-to-date emergency contact information on file for them. Fill them out online by clicking here.
☑ Make sure important vaccinations and health exams are up to date. Learn more about required vaccinations and other important health information by visiting the district's health services page by clicking here.
☑ Avoid unnecessary absences by scheduling travel plans outside of school hours. Consistent attendance is critical to a successful education. We will enforce the attendance policy as written in our student handbooks. Given the ongoing nature of the pandemic, sick students should remain home and we will excuse those absences as outlined in the handbook.
☑ Check the Parent Portal for updates on teacher assignments and other important information by clicking here. Teacher assignments are expected to be available by August 30.
